Victory in the last home game of 2025!

Darmstadt 98 continue to feel right at home at the Merck Stadium: They defeated SC Preußen Münster 1-0 (0-0). Corredor (57th minute) headed in the winning goal, securing points 30, 31, and 32 of the season. This home victory means the team from southern Hesse remains undefeated at the Bölle throughout the first half of the season.

In Darmstadt’s home match against Preußen Münster, the visitors enjoyed more possession in the opening quarter of an hour but failed to capitalise on it to create any real danger. Darmstadt, on the other hand, posed a threat, particularly from set pieces: Following a corner from Marco Richter, Patric Pfeiffer’s header struck the crossbar, and just seconds later, Isac Lidberg’s shot also hit the woodwork in the 14th minute. The ensuing corner was equally dangerous – Pfeiffer again got a shot away, which was deflected for another corner.

In the 28th minute, Lidberg and Richter narrowly missed connecting with a cross from Killian Corredor. Six minutes later, Merveille Papela won the ball back strongly, but his through ball to Richter was slightly too long, allowing Schenk in the visitors‘ goal to easily make the save.

Overall, the visitors dominated possession throughout the first half but failed to register a single shot on target. In stoppage time of the first half, Richter had another chance to shoot, but his attempt went wide of the goal – and so the teams went into the dressing room goalless.

After the break, Preußen Münster found better attacking solutions, forcing Darmstadt to create several dangerous situations: First, Kai Klefisch intervened at the last moment, 3 minutes into the half. Shortly afterward, Marcel Schuhen had no trouble dealing with Bouchama’s weak shot. Darmstadt, however, remained dangerous with their quick counter-attacks. Lidberg attempted a long-range lob after a long ball, but his effort went wide with 53 minutes played. Four minutes later, the home side finally took the lead: Richter curled a superb shot from the edge of the box over the keeper, but the ball only struck the underside of the crossbar – Corredor was perfectly positioned to head the ball over the line.

As the game progressed, Darmstadt conceded little but remained dangerous in their own attacking moves. However, clear-cut chances were scarce for both sides. In the 79th minute, Darmstadt finally had the necessary luck: Mees got a shot away in the penalty area, but the ball only struck the inside of the post and didn’t find the back of the net. Two minutes later, Klefisch tried his luck at the other end, but his powerful long-range effort narrowly missed the goal.

Even in the closing stages, the visitors rarely found a way through the home side’s compact defence, allowing Darmstadt to secure the victory in their final home game of the year.

Bölle-Energy

As Florian Kohfeldt approached the team's dressing room at halftime, the Darmstadt head coach heard exactly one sentence: "It's not finished." Fraser Hornby had uttered it, setting the tone for his teammates and himself. What followed was a remarkable second half from Darmstadt 98 and a point against SV Elversberg, a point that, while likely insufficient for their promotion hopes in southern Hesse, nonetheless filled the Darmstadt fans with pride.
