„We are overjoyed with the result“

For a long time, everything pointed to a goalless draw in Nürnberg, before Killian Corredor gave SV 98 a chance to celebrate deep into injury time. The Lilies were correspondingly happy after the final whistle. We've summarised the reactions.

Florian Kohfeldt:

„We’re obviously very happy about the late win. The game reminded me a lot of the match last February; both teams often neutralised each other. We had two great opportunities through Richter and Akiyama, while Nürnberg had two headers that could have gone in. At the end, we had one more chance, which we took advantage of. We’re very happy about that. But we couldn’t have complained if we were talking about a draw today.“

Miroslav Klose:

„Congratulations to Florian and Darmstadt 98 on the win. Overall, we had equal chances, but we caught up in the second half in terms of challenges. It was a balanced game, in which Darmstadt delivered the final punch. But we could have taken the lead with a bit more luck. It’s therefore a shame that, after the game in Elversberg, we didn’t score against Darmstadt either. Nevertheless, the boys gave it their all. I didn’t see anyone on the pitch who didn’t believe in it.“

Kai Klefisch:

„It was a tough game with many careless errors on both sides. We weren’t able to play our game like we did against Bochum. Nürnberg was very well-prepared; we didn’t get into our pressing situations as well and hardly won the ball high. But you could see that we’ve grown up. We didn’t have a win like this last season, so we’re all the happier. We’re taking the clean sheet today, plus the last-minute goal, which gives us confidence because we now know we can win these games too. We’re happy to take this win.“

Marcel Schuhen:

„We’re overjoyed with the result and the good, old-fashioned lucky punch later on. We kept a clean sheet and certainly would have taken the 0-0 draw – that’s fair to say. Nevertheless, Killian has the quality to score a goal like that. Overall, it was a difficult game to predict. We had a few spaces in the first half, but they were a bit elusive. In the second half, Nürnberg attacked more actively and had a few chances. I thought it was a good move that we switched to a back three during the second half. This gave us further stability. We didn’t walk into a trap. Instead, we stayed calm and focused, communicated a lot, and made good substitutions. We drew the game 1-0 and were clever enough to keep a clean sheet. That was the deciding factor today. We now have six points, got off to a good start, and will now focus on the DFB Cup.“
