For the 11th matchday, the Lilien will travel to face 1. FC Nürnberg this Saturday (November 7th). In our "Facts & Figures" section, you can discover which statistics are particularly noteworthy ahead of the clash, as well as what characterises both teams.
Darmstadt and Nürnberg are the teams in the second division that are most frequently halted by fouls. Noah Weißhaupt (34) and Adam Markhiev (27) lead the list of players who are fouled the most—with the Nürnberg player also being the one who commits the highest number of fouls (22).
FCN ranks third in the list for the most goals scored from distance. Adam Markhiev, in particular, is known for his dangerous long-range shots. On the positive side for the Lilies, the South Hessian side has conceded only one goal from outside the penalty area—a league-best figure (shared with four other teams).
Curiously, 1. FC Nürnberg has an opponent xG (expected goals) figure totaling 19.5—a mark surpassed by only two other teams. Despite this, FCN has conceded just 13 goals, placing them in the top third of the league in terms of defensive record. In contrast, SV Darmstadt 98 has already conceded 19 goals, even though their opponents’ xG figure stands at only 14.56. In other words: opposing teams are more efficient against SV 98 than they are against any other side.
1. FC Nürnberg has already hit the woodwork seven times—a figure surpassed by only two other teams. SV 98 has also been denied a goal by the woodwork on four occasions, placing them fourth in this particular statistic.
Before joining the Lilien in July 2023, Fabian Nürnberger spent a total of five years at 1. FC Nürnberg. Conversely, two players will be facing their former club: Julian Justvan spent half a year on loan at SV 98, while Christian Mathenia guarded the goal for the South Hessian side between 2014 and 2016.
