From summer: Marseiler becomes a Lily
The Lilies have strengthened themselves with an offensive player: Luca Marseiler, currently the third division with Viktoria Köln, will play for SV Darmstadt 98 from the new season.
Paul Fernie: „Luca Marseiler has the necessary greed and passion that we want to see. He sees the new league as a great opportunity for himself and wants to prove himself, it’s exactly this fire and motivation that we need. We are happy that he is decided in favor of us despite other offers and we absolutely trust him to help us in the second division.“
Torsten Lieberknecht: „We appreciate Luca’s creativity, his technique and his one-on-one skills. He also demonstrated his goal threat and his grit in Köln. The 27-year-old was trained in the youth ranks of Bayern Munich and SpVgg Unterhaching. The Munich native spent a total of six years for Unterhaching in the men’s division before Marseiler moved to SC Paderborn in 2021 and from there was loaned to Viktoria Köln. After a loan season in 2021/22, Köln signed him permanently. For Viktoria, Marseiler has scored 13 goals and prepared nine goals in 32 third division games so far this season.

Friendly match as a highlight: Lilien visit San Antonio
As previously announced, SV Darmstadt 98 is utilising the combined international break in September and October for a planned club trip to San Antonio, Texas. The Lilies will visit Darmstadt’s sister city from September 25th to October 1st and play a friendly match against their partner club, San Antonio FC, on Tuesday, September 29th. In addition to this sporting highlight, the team and the delegation—comprising members of the executive board and management—will attend various scheduled engagements and events. Fusion energy company Focused Energy is serving as the main partner for the US trip as part of its premium partnership. Furthermore, the City of Darmstadt will undertake a business trip to San Antonio, led by Mayor Hanno Benz, from September 27th to October 1st, 2026.
U21 defeated in Stadtallendorf
SV Darmstadt 98's U21 team suffered a 2–0 (0–0) defeat away at Eintracht Stadtallendorf over the weekend. In a match that was evenly contested for long stretches, the Young Lilies held their own for a long time but failed to capitalise on their chances. Two goals after the break decided the match in favour of the hosts.
Defeat in the second Talent Series match
After securing a point against Elversberg in the first match of the Bundesliga Talent Series, the Lilien were defeated 2-0 by 1. FC Heidenheim in their second game.
